The Cimarron-Memorial Spartans waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They skirted past Shadow Ridge 55-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Cimarron-Memorial has posted against Shadow Ridge since January 11, 2018.
Cimarron-Memorial was led to victory by Christian Cardona and Gerald Patterson. Cardona scored 21 points, while Patterson scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Cardona has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Daniel Brown was another key contributor, scoring four points.
When it comes to explaining why Shadow Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jalen Butler. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. Butler hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Judkins, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Cimarron-Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Shadow Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
Cimarron-Memorial will head out on the road to take on Del Sol at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cimarron-Memorial is facing Del Sol at the right time seeing as Del Sol is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Shadow Ridge will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Western at 6:30 p.m. on February 1st. Western will be up against Shadow Ridge's rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.19 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing.
