If the Academy for Academic Excellence Knights were feeling good off their 64-44 takedown of the Norton Science & Language Academy Rockets last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Academy for Academic Excellence was outmatched by Barstow at home and fell 70-41. Academy for Academic Excellence lost against Barstow in their previous head to head back in November, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-55 score last time.
Barstow's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quesey Gaoa led the charge by scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds. Gaoa continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Gray, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Academy for Academic Excellence's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Barstow, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.
Academy for Academic Excellence will challenge Academy of Careers & Exploration at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Academy of Careers & Exploration will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Barstow will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hillcrest at 12:30 p.m. on December 26th.
