St. Albans extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 11-16. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Parkersburg Big Reds. The Red Dragons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Big Reds earlier this season, when they won 12-8.
Kinzie Short spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Paige White made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Hannah Vreindt, who earned two runs and one stolen base.
As for Parkersburg, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 12, 2025.
On Parkersburg's side, Camella Cooper was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Cooper was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Krista Durkin was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Brynn Frye was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
St. Albans does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Parkersburg, they will host Capital at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
