Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southwest Florida Christian). They put the hurt on Everglades City with a sharp 19-1 win on Thursday. With that victory, the King's brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Natalie Recker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Candice Chime was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Adrianna Thorne was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Southwest Florida Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Community School of Naples moved to 3-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 13.67 hits in those games compared to only two in the others. As for Southwest Florida Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Community School of Naples has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Southwest Florida Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
