The La Joya Community Fighting Lobos will face off against the Independence Patriots at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in La Joya Community's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last seven matchups.
On Thursday, La Joya Community didn't have quite enough to beat Glendale and fell 14-13.

Anaya Romero was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She has been hot, having posted three or more RBI the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayley Melendrez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-6.
Meanwhile, Independence put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Washington. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.
Mariana Perez Vargas made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Independence got a massive performance out of Nailea Lopez Flores, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Genevieve De La Cruz, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Independence pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for La Joya Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. La Joya Community hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .427. However, it's not like Independence struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
La Joya Community couldn't quite finish off Independence in their previous meeting back in April of 2015 and fell 2-0. Will the Fighting Lobos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
