Midlands STEM Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 71-54 bruising from the Richard Winn Academy Eagles. One positive for the Mavericks, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Charlie Bonds, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards for Richard Winn Academy. With that strong performance, Bonds is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Nicholson, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 17 points and six assists.

Midlands STEM Charter's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Richard Winn Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

Midlands STEM Charter will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lee Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Richard Winn Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-48 victory against Thornwell on the 28th.
