The Lamar Texans will head out on the road to square off against the Heights Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Last Wednesday, Lamar came up short against Bellaire and fell 46-39. While losing is never fun, Lamar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while Bellaire is ranked 74th).
Meanwhile, Heights entered their tilt with Chavez with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Heights walked away with a 70-60 win over Chavez on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Lamar's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Heights, they pushed their record up to 13-14 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Lamar was able to grind out a solid win over Heights in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 46-39. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Heights' Jordan Clavelle, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Lamar still be able to contain him? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
