The Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions won against the San Diego Vaqueros last Tuesday with 66 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Santa Gertrudis Academy came out on top against the Vaqueros by a score of 66-53. The win was familiar territory for Santa Gertrudis Academy who now have three in a row.
Several Vaqueros players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Estevan R barrientes, who scored 18 points. Austen Reynolds was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Santa Gertrudis Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for San Diego, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-7.
Santa Gertrudis Academy will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Diego, they will be playing at home against the Longhorns at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hebbronville has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
