After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Blue Ridge, the Hargrave Military Academy Tigers were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They managed a 72-67 victory over Eastern Mennonite. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Dante Kearse, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Brooks, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Eastern Mennonite lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Prodigy Simms, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Shawn Valentine, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Hargrave Military Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Eastern Mennonite, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4.
Hargrave Military Academy will head out on the road to take on the Chiefs at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Carlisle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday. As for Eastern Mennonite, they will be playing at home against the Bishops at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Virginia Episcopal School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
