The Lamar Warriors will head out to take on the Dardanelle Sand Lizards at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Lamar didn't have quite enough to beat Charleston and fell 5-4. The Warriors have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Zaxton Aldridge put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Aldridge wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kasen Humphrey, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Dardanelle entered their tilt with Waldron on Tuesday with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. They blew past the Bulldogs 17-2. Considering the Sand Lizards have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Dardanelle also got a great performance from Jake Baxter as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Kam Olson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cam Evans, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base.
Dardanelle's record now sits at 13-3. As for Lamar, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12-1.
Lamar couldn't quite get it done against Dardanelle when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 5-1. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
