The Skyline Thunderbirds were the 65-64 winner over the Cunningham Wildcats when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Skyline fell 59-49 to Cunningham on Friday. Skyline has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leading Cunningham to victory were Will Wegerer and Luke Albers. Wegerer dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Albers scored 22 points along with four steals. Albers has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last five times he's played.
Skyline dropped their record down to 7-8-2 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Cunningham, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyline will face off against Central Christian on Tuesday. Skyline is facing Central Christian at the right time seeing as Central Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cunningham, they will head out on the road to challenge Stafford at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Cunningham's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
