Basketball Recap: Springfield Skates Past Brookfield with Ease

Springfield won the last time they faced Brookfield and things went their way on Saturday too. The Springfield Tigers blew past the Brookfield Warriors, posting a 58-18 victory. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Springfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kendall Maughan out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine steals. With that strong performance, Maughan is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Mariana Tuscano, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 14 points and five steals.

Springfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Springfield is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Brookfield, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-18.

Looking ahead, Springfield will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Waynedale at 7:00 p.m. Brookfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
