The Jensen Beach Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Martin County Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Jensen Beach focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Monday.
Jensen Beach had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They really took it to Westwood for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-24 win on the road.
Jensen Beach's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abby Fitzwater led the charge by dropping a double-double on 10 points and 14 rebounds. Jayla Brinkley was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Martin County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Sebastian River as Martin County made off with a 54-34 win.
Martin County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karolina Ramierz, who scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Becca Witt, who scored 16 points.
Jensen Beach's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Martin County, their win bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.
