Ronan is 2-8 against Polson since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Ronan Chiefs will head out on the road to challenge the Polson Pirates at 3:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Saturday, Ronan was the victim of a tough 77-54 defeat at the hands of Browning. Ronan has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Polson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They suffered a tough 55-34 defeat at the hands of Columbia Falls. While losing is never fun, Polson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Columbia Falls is ranked 16th).
Despite the defeat, Polson got a solid performance out of Anthony Lichtenberg, who scored ten points.
Ronan dropped their record down to 9-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Polson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Ronan strolled past Polson in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 73-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ronan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
