It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the El Camino Wildcats had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over Cathedral Catholic. El Camino's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Carson Howard was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 147 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.9% of his passes. Howard was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. Ray Taele also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
El Camino's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Cathedral Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
El Camino will square off against Mission Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Hills will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Cathedral Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
