The South Dade Buccaneers will face off against the Hialeah Gardens Gladiators at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in South Dade's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last six matchups.
South Dade barely beat Dr. Krop the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Buccaneers blew past the Lightning 22-1 on Thursday. Considering the Buccaneers have won nine contests by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
B. Cuellar made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, South Dade got a massive performance out of A. Guedes, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Guedes has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was A. Zamora, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
South Dade was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Hialeah Gardens came up short against Braddock on Wednesday and fell 8-4.
Delania Aleman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Emily Garcia was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
South Dade's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Hialeah Gardens, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Dade hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .465. However, it's not like Hialeah Gardens struggles in that department as they've averaged .411. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
