Softball Recap: Ben Davis Has No Trouble Against Pike

Ben Davis had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 18-run drubbing they dealt Pike on Tuesday. The Giants put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 22-4 win. With that victory, the Giants brought their scoring average up to 8.6 runs per game.

Brooklynn Chambers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Mariana Lopez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Chambers, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Ben Davis hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pike struck out eight times.

Ben Davis now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pike, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ben Davis will host Kokomo at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Giants' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildkats have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Pike, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Herron at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Achaeans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Red Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
