Softball Recap: Kirbyville Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

While Kirbyville put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Buna. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won 13 matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Jules Carrell, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Kendal Meredith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

The win (which was Kirbyville's third in a row) raised their record to 21-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Buna, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-10.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Kirbyville will challenge rival East Chambers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.3, the Buccaneers 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Buna is set to square off against their familiar foe Orangefield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
