The Dreyfoos School of the Arts Jaguars will head out on the road to take on the North Broward Prep Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dreyfoos School of the Arts is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Dreyfoos School of the Arts scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 69-56 win over Sports Leadership & Management. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Dreyfoos School of the Arts can attribute much of their success to Tyson Jimerson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds, and Zidane Guerrier, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jimerson has scored at least a third of Dreyfoos School of the Arts' points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Griffin, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, North Broward Prep stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Ferguson as North Broward Prep made off with a 84-58 win. Given North Broward Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Falcons are ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Raul Perez ruiz was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for 11 straight games. Francesco Borio was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Dreyfoos School of the Arts' victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for North Broward Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which somehow isn't as good as their 19-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Dreyfoos School of the Arts have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27 rebounds per game. However, it's not like North Broward Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Dreyfoos School of the Arts was taken down by the Eagles 67-26 in their previous meeting back in December of 2016. Thankfully for Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Jake Dable (who scored 20 points along with five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
