The Highland Rams will head out to face off against the Pendleton County Wildcat at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Highland has five straight wins, Pendleton County has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Highland got the win against Craig County by a conclusive 19-4. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Highland got a massive performance out of Zach Armstrong, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Armstrong has become a key player for the Rams: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise. John Wagner was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Highland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive contests.
Pendleton County couldn't beat Elkins on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Wildcat lost 13-4 to the Tigers.
Chase Owens made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Highland's record now sits at 7-5. As for Pendleton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Pendleton County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Highland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for Pendleton County, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Highland's hitters?
Highland suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Pendleton County when the teams last played back in March. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
