Ava Wohnhas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Mallarie Maddy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Kaylee Hagan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Bellaire was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Beaver Local, falling 12-2.
Bellaire saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elisa Gillespie, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Bellaire's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for River, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. River hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bellaire struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went River's way against Bellaire in their previous meeting back in April, as River made off with a 10-4 win. Do the Pilots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Big Reds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
