Football Recap: Seminole Takes a Loss

Seminole lost against Perkins-Tryon back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chieftains took a blow against the Demons, falling 63-26. The matchup marked the Chieftains' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Chieftains players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Donavin Garfield, who rushed for 140 yards and one score, and also threw for 144 yards and three TDs on only ten passes. Garfield's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 108 rushing yards. Seminole's leading receiver Jay Ladd was Garfield's top target yet again, picking up 121 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

It was another big night for Wyatt Atkinson, who rushed for 241 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per carry for Perkins-Tryon. Atkinson didn't just play on offense: he also made six total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass. Westin Atkinson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, Seminole fell to 5-1. As for Perkins-Tryon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
