Marian has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Tuesday. They will challenge Regina at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Marian is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Regina in Michigan (Marian is ranked 48th, while Regina is ranked 290th).
Marian pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-63 to Mercy. The loss was Marian's first of the season.
Marian's defeat came about despite a quality game from Mckenzie Swanson, who scored 31 points along with nine rebounds. The match was Swanson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was McKenley Reid, who scored 17 points.
Even though they lost, Marian were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Regina was the victim of a rough 57-35 defeat at the hands of Gabriel Richard on Friday. Regina has not had much luck with Gabriel Richard recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Marian's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1. Regina's record is now 1-3.
Marian came up short against Regina in their previous meeting back in January, falling 35-22. Can Marian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
