The Jackson Jaguars and the Jefferson Dragons squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Jackson Jaguars had to settle for second. Jackson was beaten by Jefferson 48-14. While losing is never fun, Jackson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Jefferson is ranked 25th).
Jefferson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Markey led the charge by throwing for 206 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes. Another player making a difference was Sammy Brown, who gained 133 total yards and four touchdowns.
Jefferson's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Kelan Butler and his two sacks.
Jackson now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Jefferson, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Jackson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jefferson will face off against Hiram at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hiram will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
