Softball Recap: Milford Has No Trouble Against Mott

Milford came out on top against Mott on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Mavericks blew past the Corsairs 12-2. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine runs or more this season.

Kylee Flack was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Flack was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Milford got a massive performance out of Kaitlynn Elkins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Elkins a new career-high. Marisa Merz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Milford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher in three consecutive games.

Milford pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Mott, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.

Milford will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Corsairs: the pair will be back at it again later today.
