The Carson Cougars will square off against the North Henderson Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carson is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
Carson saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They blew past South Rowan 3-0.
While Carson won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-22, 25-15.
Carson found their leader in sophomore Carmen Graham, who had eight digs and two aces.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, North Henderson rose to the challenge on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Spiders.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 19-25, 25-16, 25-21.
North Henderson had a senior duo take command as Brie Barnett had 16 digs and three assists and Katie Ruminski had nine digs, three aces, and one block. Ruminski also set a new season-high mark in assists with 38. Another player making a difference was Ava Lyda, who had nine digs and one assist.
North Henderson's victory bumped their record up to 11-21. As for Carson, their win bumped their record up to 26-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Carson has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.6 aces per game. However, it's not like North Henderson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
