Jefferson is 1-9 against Belvidere since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The J-Hawks will be playing at home against the Bucs at 4:30 p.m.
Monday just wasn't the day for Jefferson's offense. They lost 7-0 to Hononegah on Monday. The J-Hawks' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Jefferson saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rodney Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Belvidere won against Rockford Auburn on Friday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Bucs put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bucs in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won six in a row.
Chris Medina made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Medina was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Paul Stark was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Belvidere: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-16 otherwise. The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jefferson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Belvidere struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
