While losing is never fun, Wheeling Central Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Cameron is ranked 18th).
Wheeling Central Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Haley Severns, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Severns has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Blake, who scored 22 points.
Wheeling Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Cameron, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Wheeling Central Catholic will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Charleston Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Charleston Catholic is coming into the contest with three straight losses at home, meaning Wheeling Central Catholic will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Cameron, they will take on Doddridge County at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cameron has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 669 points over their last ten games.
