Two dominant players in Donavan Tanouye and Christian Musser are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Paw Paw Pirates will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Shanksville Stonycreek Vikings at 12:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Paw Paw's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Shanksville Stonycreek has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Even though Hancock scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Paw Paw still came out on top. Paw Paw took their game against Hancock 67-58. Given Paw Paw's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 63rd in West Virginia, while Hancock is ranked 293rd in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Paw Paw can attribute much of their success to Greyson Corbett, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Tanouye, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Tanouye is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ayden Crabtree, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Shanksville Stonycreek came up short against Ferndale on Wednesday and fell 48-40.
Paw Paw has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Shanksville Stonycreek, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
