Softball Recap: Geraldine Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Geraldine never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Section Lions with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Shyla Thompson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Geraldine let Sophie Bearden and Kennedy Cook run wild. Bearden scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Cook scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Bearden has posted since back in March. Callie Bearden was another key player, scoring three runs.

Geraldine has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Section, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Looking ahead, Geraldine will be taking part in a tournament against Sylvania at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Section, they will face off against Ider at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
