The Cummings Cavaliers entered their tilt with the North Moore Mustangs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Cummings strolled past North Moore with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 65-50. Given Cummings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while North Moore is ranked 542nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Cummings to victory were Ja'Kway Robertson and Ja'Kari Dobbins. Robertson scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, while Dobbins dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dobbins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobie Stadler, who scored nine points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why North Moore lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colby Pennington. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Michael Copeland was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Cummings' win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for North Moore, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Cummings will head out on the road to challenge Seaforth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Moore, they will be playing at home against Southeast Alamance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Alamance is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
