Austin-East had lost 28 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-24 to make it 29. They came up short against the Eagleton College & Career Academy Royals, falling 21-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Royals this season, with their most recent defeat being a 23-1 loss back in March.
Austin-East saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeffrey Minor, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Eagleton College & Career Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Eagleton College & Career Academy, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Eagleton College & Career Academy's side, Willard King made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. King has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Eagleton College & Career Academy is undefeated when King posts two or more runs, but 5-11-1 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Ethan Anderson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Caden Frank was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. Jack Kidd was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
