The Steeleville Warriors struggled with assists on Thursday (the Chester Yellowjackets had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Steeleville took a 48-33 bruising from Chester. If Steeleville hoped to take revenge for the 43-11 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the loss, Steeleville still got an impressive performance from Rylan Reiss, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reiss has scored all season. Lilly Hepp was another key contributor, scoring no points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Lexie Mott was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds for Chester. That makes it six consecutive games in which Mott has scored at least a third of Chester's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Diskey, who scored five points along with ten rebounds.
Steeleville has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Chester, they pushed their record up to 13-10 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Steeleville will head out on the road to challenge Wesclin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Chester, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Marissa/Coulterville at 11:00 a.m. on January 20th. Marissa/Coulterville's defense has only allowed 25.8 points per game this season, so Chester's offense will have their work cut out for them.
