Basketball Recap: Chancellor Sets Scoring Season-High Against Culpeper County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chancellor). They came out on top against the Culpeper County Blue Devils by a score of 64-53 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Chargers as they're now sitting on six straight.

Chancellor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalie Lanning, who went 8 of 17 on her way to 24 points along with seven boards and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lanning has scored at least a third of Chancellor's points. Another player making a difference was Megan Clouser, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Chancellor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Culpeper County's loss came despite strong showings from Kelley Hutcherson and AmyAh Robinson. Hutcherson went 8 for 15 en route to 19 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists, while Robinson posted 20 points and eight steals. Robinson has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 29 times she's played.

Chancellor is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Culpeper County, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.

Chancellor didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-30 victory against Massaponax on the 23rd. Culpeper County has also already played their next match, an 87-30 win against Spotsylvania on the 22nd.
