The Macomb Bombers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 66-47 victory over Monmouth-Roseville. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Macomb also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Monmouth-Roseville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Clark. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clark has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrion Smith, who scored ten points.
Macomb's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Monmouth-Roseville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Macomb will square off against Bushnell-Prairie City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bushnell-Prairie City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 588th, while Macomb is ranked 150th). As for Monmouth-Roseville, Monmouth-Roseville and Erie-Prophetstown will face off at 12:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Erie-Prophetstown is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
