Basketball Recap: Southern Nash Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Southern Nash had lost three straight headed into Tuesday's contest, but Terri Richardson didn't let it get to four. The Southern Nash Firebirds came out on top against the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets by a score of 48-40 on Tuesday thanks in part to Richardson, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Roanoke Rapids' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaniah Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 boards. Daniels is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 17 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara Baird, who posted 15 points and seven boards.

Southern Nash's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Roanoke Rapids, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Southern Nash wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-33 victory against Franklinton on the 30th. As for Roanoke Rapids, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-37 loss against Nash Central on the 29th.
