Pacific is 8-2 against St. James since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Indians will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Pacific's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while St. James has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Pacific nor New Haven made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Indians never let the Shamrocks get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory.
The team relied heavily on Colton Burt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Nate Ball was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Tuesday. St. James fell 5-2 to Salem.
St. James also got a good showing from Isaac Pearson, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Pearson a new career-low.
At the plate, St. James saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JV Meurer, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. Another was Eugene Lefebvre, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Pacific now has a winning record of 6-5. As for St. James, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Pacific's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Indians have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for St. James, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Pacific continue to outrun the ball?
Pacific got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against St. James by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
