The Lyman Greyhounds will head out on the road to face off against the Orangewood Christian Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Lyman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
Lyman pushed their score all the way to 56, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Winter Springs.
Despite the loss, Lyman got a solid performance out of Max Mattingly, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Davion Jones, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, even though International Community scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, Orangewood Christian still came out on top. Orangewood Christian secured a 67-63 W over International Community. The win was just what Orangewood Christian needed coming off of a 72-41 loss in their prior match.
Orangewood Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josiah Powell led the charge by scoring 16 points. The matchup was Powell's third in a row with at least ten points. Roby McClarnon was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Lyman's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Orangewood Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Lyman was able to grind out a solid victory over Orangewood Christian when the teams last played back in January, winning 71-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lyman since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
