Fairbanks is 10-0 against Mechanicsburg since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Fairbanks Panthers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Mechanicsburg Indians at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Fairbanks is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mechanicsburg in Ohio (Fairbanks is ranked 264th, while Mechanicsburg is ranked 805th).
Fairbanks stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Catholic Central 56-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Fairbanks has posted since December 28, 2023.
Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Catholic Central.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Lane Poland, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and two steals. Deacon Meade was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists.
Fairbanks has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Mechanicsburg, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-12.
Fairbanks took their win against Mechanicsburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 54-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fairbanks since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
