The Mendon Hornets waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 57-50 victory over St. Philip Catholic Central. For Mendon, this counts as revenge for the 70-58 loss St. Philip Catholic Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Leading Mendon to victory were Owen Gorham and Quincy Blair. Gorham dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Blair scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Gorham is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryder Gorham, who scored six points along with five assists and three steals.
Mendon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for St. Philip Catholic Central, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mendon will take on Tekonsha at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Philip Catholic Central, they will be playing at home against Climax-Scotts at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
