Highland is 2-8 against Madison since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Highland Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Madison Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Highland is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Highland, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-46 loss to Blackfoot. While losing is never fun, Highland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Blackfoot is ranked 25th).
Despite the defeat, Highland got a solid performance out of Rian Pokibro, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pokibro has scored all season. Baili Briscoe was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Madison suffered their biggest defeat yet this season last Friday. They took a serious blow against Rigby, falling 59-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Madison has scored all season.
Highland has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Madison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
Highland came up short against Madison in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 63-55. Can Highland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
