The Kennedy Crusaders will challenge the Bulls College Prep Bulls at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Kennedy made easy work of Hillcrest and carried off a 9-3 win. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Nicholas Reyes spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alec Mendoza, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Mason Rychetsky was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
Bulls College Prep couldn't beat Intrinsic on Tuesday even though they stacked nine runs on them in the second inning. The Bulls lost 20-9 to the Mustangs. The Bulls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jeremiah Alvarado was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Toney Johnson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Kennedy has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bulls College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kennedy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bulls College Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Kennedy skirted past Bulls College Prep 8-7 in their previous matchup back in May of 2018. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
