This season hasn't been kind to The Hollins Royals, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were beaten by St. Petersburg 45-6 on Thursday. Hollins was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-0.
It was another big night for Jeff Jones, who rushed for 216 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Jones was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Ben Cubito got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Hollins' defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.9 points per game. As for St. Petersburg, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hollins will take on Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. As for St. Petersburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gibbs at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Gibbs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 371st, while St. Petersburg is ranked 143rd).
