Spring is 8-2 against Dekaney since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Spring is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
Spring is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past MacArthur 15-7 on Friday. The game was the first time the Lions have beaten the Generals on their field since April 27, 2021.
Jesus Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base.

In other pitching news, Adrian Najera looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Joshua Porter, who went 3-for-6 with six RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Castaneda, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Spring kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Dekaney posted their closest win since April 9, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Eisenhower 4-3. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Anthony Cruz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Michael Hayes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Isaac Fontenot, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Spring's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Dekaney, their record is now 14-11.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Spring has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Dekaney struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Spring came up short against Dekaney in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
