West Stokes is 8-2 against Morehead since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Wildcats will host the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in West Stokes' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Morehead has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
While West Stokes' win against Walkertown wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats won by a run and slipped past the Wolfpack 4-3.
Meanwhile, while Morehead put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for North Forsyth. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Vikings. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Saillie Aheron was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Morehead got a massive performance out of Dayln Hutchens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that Hutchens hit this season. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Easley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Morehead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
West Stokes is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Morehead, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Everything went West Stokes' way against Morehead in their previous matchup back in March, as West Stokes made off with a 19-1 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
