The Cactus Cobras will head out on the road to face off against the Millennium Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Cactus beat Desert Edge 33-27.
Cactus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julian Stubblefield led the charge by picking up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Tevin Marrufo was in the mix as well, providing Cactus with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Millennium narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Sunrise Mountain 27-24.
Donovan Delong looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 106 yards, while also throwing for 123 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Sunrise Mountain to a paltry 244 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Millennium's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Cactus is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Millennium, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-3.
Cactus was able to grind out a solid win over Millennium in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, winning 27-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cactus since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
