Softball Recap: Stratford Wins Going Away Against Jersey Village

Stratford had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Jersey Village on Tuesday. The Stratford Spartans blew past the Jersey Village Falcons 17-5. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Layla Yslas was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Allison Hibbetts was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Stratford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jersey Village only posted an OBP of .333.

Stratford pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jersey Village, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stratford will head out to square off against Cy-Fair at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Stratford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season. As for Jersey Village, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Jersey Village Falcons take on Cypress Falls Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
