The South County Stallions will face off against the Robinson Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
South County barely beat West Springfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Stallions were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Spartans on Tuesday. The Stallions haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Maddie Grice spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ava Abromavage was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Oksana Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.
Meanwhile, Robinson sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Fairfax on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.
Robinson also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ella Downer gave up just two earned runs on five hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marina Palazzo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
The win got Robinson back to even at 7-7. As for South County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Robinson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Robinson, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given South County's sizable advantage in that area, the Rams will need to find a way to close that gap.
South County took their win against Robinson in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 14-2 score. Will the Stallions repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
