Baseball Recap: University's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

University can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against the John Marshall Monarchs by a score of 5-2. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Monarchs last Friday, they had to take a 5-1 loss.

Jacob Kennison tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Brance McCune and Baret Shuba did most of the damage at the plate: McCune scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Shuba scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Shuba also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Max Cash, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

University's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for John Marshall, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
