The L'Anse Creuse North Crusaders will challenge the St. Clair Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, L'Anse Creuse North got the win against Sterling Heights Stevenson by a conclusive 12-3. The victory continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won three in a row.
Linsay Beyer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lily Smeltzer and Hailee Lane did most of the damage at the plate: Smeltzer went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs, while Lane went 3-for-5 with two runs and two doubles. Ava Alexander was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.
L'Anse Creuse North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, St. Clair was able to grind out a solid win over Fraser on Tuesday, taking the game 9-6.
Hayley McFarlane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, St. Clair got a massive performance out of Gracie Pickelhaupt, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Pickelhaupt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Smith, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
L'Anse Creuse North's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for St. Clair, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3-2 record this season.
